PPPs, blended finance and institutional partnerships

Public–private collaboration, technical assistance and clean energy market development

When public and private capital must work together

Many of Africa’s most important energy initiatives sit at the intersection of government, DFIs, donors and private sponsors. PPP structures, technical assistance and blended finance are often the only way to make projects viable while protecting public interest. MBhazi Advisory supports governments and institutional partners to design and advance those collaborations.

Where we engage

Our institutional work covers PPP energy initiatives, state-level partnerships, technical assistance programmes and clean energy market development. We help clarify roles, risk allocation and financing pathways so programmes attract credible private participation rather than stalling in concept stage.

Blended structures—combining concessional capital with commercial debt and equity—are treated as design problems, not buzzwords: who absorbs which risk, in what order capital stacks, and how impact and bankability are both demonstrated.

Partnership that unlocks markets

Institutional partnership is central to MBhazi’s vision of an African energy market that meets demand sustainably. By aligning public purpose with investable structures, we help partners move from policy intent to financed delivery—strengthening investment readiness and accelerating capital into the projects communities need.
